Basketball Recap: Harrisburg Christian's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Harrisburg Christian's strategy against New Covenant Christian on Friday. Harrisburg Christian put the hurt on the New Covenant Christian Flames with a sharp 58-36 win. Harrisburg Christian pushed the score to 50-29 by the end of the third, a deficit New Covenant Christian had little chance of recovering from.

Several Flames players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Talan VanderPloog, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Schaetzle, who put up six points.

Harrisburg Christian's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for New Covenant Christian, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harrisburg Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mount Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Mount Calvary Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Harrisburg Christian surely won't give up without a fight. New Covenant Christian also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Millersburg at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th.
