Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South

The Central Rockets will face off against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Central's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Central came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against St. Charles East, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while St. Charles East are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wheaton-Warrenville South duked it out with Lyons last Thursday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 3-2.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their win bumped their record up to 2-0-1.

Central might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
