Recap: Gadsden Panthers vs. Santa Teresa Desert Warriors
The Gadsden Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against Santa Teresa as Gadsden made off with a 28-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Gadsden can attribute much of their success to Alfredo Andrade, who rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Alius Soto was another key contributor, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Gadsden has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Santa Teresa, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Gadsden will be playing in front of their home fans against Deming at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deming will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Santa Teresa, they will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is on a three-game streak of home losses, Santa Teresa a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
