Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Mustangs vs. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits

The Roosevelt Mustangs will take on the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Roosevelt saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Alta Loma.

Meanwhile, while Long Beach Poly put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Lakewood. The Jackrabbits skirted past the Lancers 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jackrabbits have posted since February 28th.

The result came thanks to Ryan King's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Long Beach Poly is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Long Beach Poly's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Fausto Gaxiola, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Gaxiola snagged this season.

Long Beach Poly's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
