Softball Game Preview: UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs vs. Murphy Panthers

UMS-Wright Prep has gone a perfect 6-0 against Murphy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

UMS-Wright Prep's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Rain with a sharp 16-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

UMS-Wright Prep got a massive performance out of Emma Trawick, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Trawick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma McGorty, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

UMS-Wright Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Murphy entered their tilt with Blount on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Leopards.

UMS-Wright Prep pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Murphy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything went UMS-Wright Prep's way against Murphy in their previous matchup back in February, as UMS-Wright Prep made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
