Softball Recap: Smackover Gets the Win

Smackover won the last time they faced Crossett and things went their way on Friday too. The Smackover Buckaroos came out on top against the Crossett Eagles by a score of 7-3.

Ava Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, A'Olani Baugus and MaKayla Blackledge did most of the damage at the plate: Baugus went 2-for-4 with two triples and three runs, while Blackledge went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Taylor Darden was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The victory got Smackover back to even at 1-1. As for Crossett, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smackover will take on Hampton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Crossett, they will face off against DeWitt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
