Basketball Recap: Sam Lasswell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Littleton over Bear Creek

Littleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 49-30 fall against the Bear Creek Bears.

Littleton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Lasswell, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Max Fendrich, who posted five points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Littleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Bear Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caelo Sandoval led the charge by going 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hegerle, who had ten points and five rebounds.

Littleton's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Bear Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Littleton will challenge Conifer at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Conifer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. Bear Creek has already played their next game, an 84-40 defeat against Arvada West on the 17th.
