Baseball Game Preview: Southside Christian Warriors vs. New Life Christian Academy Warriors

Southside Christian will head out to square off against New Life Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Southside Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Southside Christian is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Living Water Christian on Friday. Southside Christian was the clear victor by a 19-6 margin over Living Water Christian. Southside Christian's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackson Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Landon Pourron and Jason Burke did most of the damage at the plate: Pourron scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Burke scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Burke a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Ragan, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Southside Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, New Life Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 23-8 to Lee Christian.

Southside Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for New Life Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Southside Christian skirted past New Life Christian Academy 12-10 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
