Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter Piles Up the Points Against Wayne Country Day

Neuse Charter was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wayne Country Day on Monday. The Neuse Charter Cougars breezed by the Wayne Country Day Chargers to the tune of 66-12. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Neuse Charter was led to victory by Yedidia Tsolenyanu and Lily Temple. Tsolenyanu almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine boards, and nine blocks, while Temple posted 15 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists. Temple's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Johnson, who put up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Neuse Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Neuse Charter's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Wayne Country Day, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Neuse Charter will square off against Ascend Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wayne Country Day, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cape Fear Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
