Baseball Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

Dunnellon has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lake Weir recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Dunnellon will look to defend their home field against Lake Weir at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dunnellon faced off against Forest on Tuesday. Dunnellon fell just short of Forest by a score of 9-7. The Tigers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Gavin Whitehead was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Dunnellon: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Ayden Cox was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Dunnellon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir lost 11-1 to Umatilla on Tuesday.

Lake Weir saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was D'Angelo Erazo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lake Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Dunnellon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
