Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Falls Lake's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It's playoff time, and Falls Lake had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Pamlico County Hurricanes by a score of 10-7 on Thursday. This was payback for the Firebirds, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Wynterlee Glenn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cameron Kendrick was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kayla Cash also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Falls Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Falls Lake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Pamlico County, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Falls Lake nor the Hurricanes have any future games scheduled.
