Softball Game Preview: Gretna Hawks vs. William Campbell Generals

The Gretna Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the William Campbell Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gretna has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 31.

Amelia County hit Gretna with a eight-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks lost 13-1 to the Raiders.

Makayla Morris was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, William Campbell got the win against Nelson County on Thursday by a conclusive 7-1. The win continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Governors: they've now won seven in a row.

William Campbell's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Gretna, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Gretna couldn't quite get it done against William Campbell when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-2. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
