University City picked up another tournament win on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Redwood Rangers 3-1.

The team relied heavily on Van Zucker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyris Eison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

University City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Redwood, they moved to 9-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, University City will head out on the road to square off against Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Redwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Merced at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
