Volleyball Game Preview: Shawnee Mission East Lancers vs. Olathe North Eagles

Shawnee Mission East won the last time they faced Shawnee Mission South and Jessie Hill did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Raiders on Thursday for which the team can thank Hill, who had 15 digs and three assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last four times she's played.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 26-24, 26-24, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Olathe North came up short against Mill Valley on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-7, 25-16.

Olathe North's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Shawnee Mission East, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Shawnee Mission East has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Olathe North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Shawnee Mission East might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Olathe North in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
