Softball Recap: Eagan Takes a Loss

Eagan had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-11 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Eastview Lightning. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lightning this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-5 loss back in April.

As for Eastview, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

For Eastview's part, Elise Dormody made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Dormody has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ryann Mushett was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Peck, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Eagan will be playing in front of their home fans against Robbinsdale Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastview, they are taking a road trip to challenge Shakopee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
