Basketball Game Preview: East Laurens Falcons vs. Central Chargers

The East Laurens Falcons will square off against the Central Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Laurens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, East Laurens was able to grind out a solid victory over Bleckley County, taking the game 56-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Deanna Lowther was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Givens, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

East Laurens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Central came tearing into last Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Royals by a score of 39-32.

Central pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for East Laurens, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

East Laurens came up short against Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 42-34. Can East Laurens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
