Softball Recap: Genoa Area Comes Up Short

The matchup between Genoa Area and Maumee on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Comets came up short against the Panthers, falling 17-4. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Genoa Area saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rilee Popovich, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Genoa Area's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Maumee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Genoa Area will challenge rival Otsego at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Maumee is set to take on their familiar foe Rossford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
