Baseball Game Preview: Millington Central Trojans vs. White Station Spartans

The Millington Central Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the White Station Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Millington Central's offense. They lost 10-0 to Hardin County on Saturday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, White Station didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland Preparatory on Monday and fell 8-7. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hayes Bennett and Demarcus Covington stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bennett scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4, while Covington went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Bennett has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Townsend Buring, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Millington Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for White Station, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Millington Central was able to grind out a solid victory over White Station when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Millington Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
