Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Hagerstown Tigers

Sheridan is 1-0 against Hagerstown since November of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sheridan Blackhawks will look to defend their home field against the Hagerstown Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Sheridan is ranked 188th, while Hagerstown is ranked 211th).

Sheridan fell victim to Carroll's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. Their rough 24-0 loss to the Cougars might stick with them for a while. It was the first time this season that Sheridan let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Hagerstown earned a 27-20 victory over Northeastern on Friday. Hagerstown pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Northeastern cut but never quite recovered from.

Hagerstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grant Semler led the charge by gaining 85 total yards and a touchdown.

Hagerstown's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Lowell Berger and Logan Parrish who racked up four sacks between them.

With Sheridan's loss and Hagerstown's win, both teams now sport identical 6-3 records.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Sheridan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hagerstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 166 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Everything came up roses for Sheridan against Hagerstown when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 75-36 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hagerstown's Mason Romack, who picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Sheridan to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
