Football Recap: Sutherlin's Undefeated Season over After Three Games + How To Watch

After flying high against Creswell last Friday, Sutherlin came back down to earth. The Bulldogs took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoenix Pirates on Friday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Sutherlin lost, don't look at Eden Cardoza. Despite the final result, he rushed for 98 yards and one TD. The Bulldogs also got a significant boost from Elijah Manasco, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.

Phoenix's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cody Martin led the charge by picking up 42 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 42 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sutherlin fell to 2-1. As for Phoenix, their record now sits at 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sutherlin will host Klamath Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Phoenix, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Coquille at 7:00 p.m.
