Elkhart (Texas) jumped out to an early lead against Grapeland (Texas) and never looked back on the way to a 49-7 victory on Saturday.
In the first quarter, the Elks put up 13 points. Elkhart scored on a rushing touchdown and a touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, EHS led 35-0 at the half.
The Elks expanded their lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. Elkhart's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run.
Grapeland's lone touchdown came on a pass in the fourth quarter.
A 45-26 Elkhart victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Grapeland, who notched a 35-28 victory over Lovelady in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Elks, who were coming off a 27-7 defeat at the hands of Centerville in its previous game.
Elkhart (3-1) will play a non-conference game against Joaquin next week, while Grapeland (1-3) will take on Leon also in a non-conference game.
