Basketball Recap: Smiths Station Takes a Loss

Smiths Station won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 73-42 loss at the hands of the Central Red Devils. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Red Devils are ranked third).

Smiths Station has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Central, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-4.

While Smiths Station had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
