Volleyball Recap: Camelback Takes a Loss

Camelback came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the South Mountain Jaguars. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-17, 25-9.

Devi Baumgartner paced Camelback's offense, picking up five kills. Baumgartner got some help from Izabella Yun and her five assists. Yun also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jenel Medina, each putting up two.

Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for South Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Camelback and South Mountain will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Spartans see the court they'll take on Maryvale at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for South Mountain, their break will end when they face Browne at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
