Recap: Richard Montgomery Rockets vs. Gaithersburg Trojans
The Richard Montgomery Rockets pushed their score all the way to 37 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 48-37 to Gaithersburg. Richard Montgomery just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Despite the loss, Richard Montgomery still got an impressive performance from Anthony Dixon jr, who threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns. Dixon jr hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for four straight games. Khalil Wilson was in the mix as well, providing Richard Montgomery with two touchdowns.
Richard Montgomery's defeat was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Walter Johnson and 9-3 Churchill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.5% over those games). As for Gaithersburg, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Churchill the next time they take the field. Richard Montgomery will head out to face Churchill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Gaithersburg will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th.
