Basketball Recap: Bowling Green Christian Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Gilead Christian

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bowling Green Christian Academy walked away with it. They took down the Gilead Christian Eagles 40-24 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 57-53 loss the last time these two teams met.

Bowling Green Christian Academy was led to victory by Josh Kunstmann and Jackson Hammack. Kunstmann dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards, while Hammack dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Hammack also posted a 44% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trent Thompson, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Aden Wagner and Talan Blankenship certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Wagner had seven points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Blankenship scored 13 points. Wagner has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played.

The win was the third in a row for Bowling Green Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 18-10. As for Gilead Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bowling Green Christian Academy will face off against Gospel Haven Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 18th. Gospel Haven Academy's defense has only allowed 24.1 points per game this season, so Bowling Green Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Gilead Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Temple Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th.
