Softball Recap: Lamar Vikings vs. Grand Prairie Gophers

Lamar extended their losing streak to 15 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-20 in the process. They came up short against the Grand Prairie Gophers, falling 22-12. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gophers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in March.

Lamar got a massive performance out of Mariska Soliz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Leila Bajenaru was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

As for Grand Prairie, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-19. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

On Grand Prairie's side, they let Angela Amaya and Stella Benitez-Mendez run wild. Amaya went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI, while Benitez-Mendez got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Amaya has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Martinez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

As of now, neither Lamar nor Grand Prairie have any future games scheduled.
