Baseball Recap: James Lick Comets vs. Mt. Pleasant Cardinals

James Lick extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-2 defeat back in April.

As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for Mt. Pleasant, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Mt. Pleasant's part, Julian Saldana made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Saldana posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
