Brandon has gone a perfect 4-0 against Ocean Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Brandon put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They blew past Meridian 40-13. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since November 22, 2024 (when they won 39-10).
One reason for the win was Brandon's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cody Wilson, Cam Williams, and Ashton Moore, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Meridian's side was Wilson, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Yellow Jackets, posting a 49-21 win. The Greyhounds pushed the score to 49-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellow Jackets cut but never quite recovered from.
Ocean Springs' win came from a few key players Brandon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chalmers Berglind, who threw for 176 yards and four TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Ocean Springs also got a significant boost from Lanny Waltman, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 125 yards.
Ocean Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 218 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
The victory got Brandon back to even at 5-5. As for Ocean Springs, their record is now 9-1.
Brandon strolled past Ocean Springs in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 31-13. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
