Baseball Game Preview: South Hagerstown Rebels vs. Frederick Cadets

The South Hagerstown Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Frederick Cadets at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. South Hagerstown will be strutting in after a win while Frederick will be coming in after a defeat.

South Hagerstown took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Governor Thomas Johnson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rebels skirted past the Patriots 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since April 2nd.

Meanwhile, Frederick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Urbana. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Cadets' highest-scoring game to date.

Jake Nikolow was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Frederick's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South Hagerstown, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Everything went South Hagerstown's way against Frederick when the teams last played on April 4th, as South Hagerstown made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
