Basketball Recap: Richards Finds Playoff Glory Versus Austwell-Tivoli

It's playoff time, and Richards had no trouble coming through when it counted. They managed a 55-51 win over the Austwell-Tivoli Redfish on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Despite the loss, Austwell-Tivoli saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mackenzi Cortez posted 47 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cortez has scored all season.

Richards' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points over those games. As for Austwell-Tivoli, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.

Richards wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-37 defeat against Medina on the 14th. Austwell-Tivoli does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
