Basketball Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Raiders vs. Lawrence Academy Warriors
The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over Lawrence Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Pungo Christian Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pungo Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Lee, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Lee is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quay Artis, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Lawrence Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Mari Larry and Nike Wiggins. Larry scored 22 points along with six rebounds, while Wiggins scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Wiggins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.
Pungo Christian Academy's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.1 points. As for Lawrence Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pungo Christian Academy and the Rams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Ridgecroft's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Lawrence Academy, they will be playing at home against the Griffins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
