Soccer Game Preview: Flower Mound vs. Braswell

The Flower Mound Jaguars will venture away from home to square off against the Braswell Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Flower Mound has four straight wins, Braswell has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Flower Mound had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the eight-goal drubbing they dealt Lewisville on Tuesday. Flower Mound never let Lewisville get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won five matchups by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Braswell fell victim to Marcus and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Marauders. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 430th in Texas, while the Marauders are ranked sixth in Texas).

Flower Mound's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those seven games. As for Braswell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Everything went Flower Mound's way against Braswell when the teams last played back in January, as Flower Mound made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flower Mound since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
