Basketball Recap: Nigel Walls Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Mary's

St. Francis Episcopal saw some tournament action on Friday. They skirted past the St. Mary's Knights 67-64.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis Episcopal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nigel Walls, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of John Laboy, II, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

St. Francis Episcopal is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

St. Francis Episcopal and Louisville will face off at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. St. Francis Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Louisville likes a good challenge. As for St. Mary's, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Marcos de Niza at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
