Softball Recap: St. Mary's Wins Going Away Against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy

The St. Mary's Lancers got the win against the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers on Monday by a conclusive 18-1.

Olivia Lange looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Lauren Payne was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor DeSantis, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

St. Mary's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy only posted an OBP of .214.

The win got St. Mary's back to even at 1-1. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commodores have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they will square off against The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
