Preview: Terrell Academy Eagles vs. Tiftarea Academy Panthers
Terrell Academy is 2-7 against Tiftarea Academy since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Terrell Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Tiftarea Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Terrell Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Terrell Academy pushed their score all the way to 37 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Brookwood on the road by a decisive 52-37 margin.
Terrell Academy's loss came about despite a quality game from Quindon Wright, who rushed for 354 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 19.7 yards per carry. Wright's longest rush was for an incredible 99 yards.
Meanwhile, Tiftarea Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 28-22 to Southland Academy. Tiftarea Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lane Cole, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 61 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was John Robert Walker, who threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
The losses dropped Terrell Academy to 6-3 and Tiftarea Academy to 1-7-1.
Everything came up roses for Terrell Academy against Tiftarea Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 47-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Terrell Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
