Volleyball Recap: Mater Dei Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Mater Dei won the last time they faced Servite and things went their way on Friday too. Mater Dei came out on top against Servite by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.

Mater Dei was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-15, 18-25, 27-25.

Ben Smith paced Mater Dei's offense, picking up 15 kills. Smith got some help from Jake Newman and his 33 assists. Finally, Jaremiah Potasi kept Mater Dei's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Mater Dei's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. As for Servite, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Mater Dei will square off against JSerra Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Servite, they will take on St. John Bosco at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John Bosco will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Servite surely won't give up without a fight.
