Volleyball Recap: Woodmont Falls Short Against Ranked Cardinal Newman

Woodmont faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in September of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Aubrie Walker paced Woodmont's offense, picking up 15 kills. Walker got some help from Riley Gross and her 26 assists. Kendall Cobb controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Woodmont fell to 2-1. As for Cardinal Newman, the win (which was their eighth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Woodmont has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Nation Ford on the 16th. As for Cardinal Newman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against River Bluff on the 16th.
