Recap: Armstrong Wildcats vs. Varina Blue Devils
The Armstrong Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Varina, falling 98-36. Armstrong has struggled against Varina recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was De'vonte Walker, who scored 16 points. Walker is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Devon Epps was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Armstrong's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Varina, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Armstrong will square off against Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Armstrong likes a good challenge. As for Varina, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mechanicsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mechanicsville is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
