Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield Southeast). They put the hurt on the Calvary Saints with a sharp 15-3 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

B Pittman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, B Twist was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Springfield Southeast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of C Murphy, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield Southeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-12. As for Calvary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield Southeast will head out to face off against MacArthur at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Calvary, they will head out on the road to take on Edinburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
