Baseball Game Preview: Tonopah Valley Phoenix vs. Saguaro Sabercats

The Tonopah Valley Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the Saguaro Sabercats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tonopah Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Scottsdale Christian Academy on Saturday.

Connor Hart made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Hart was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Hart wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hacker, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Saguaro never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Flagstaff 1-0. The Sabercats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Nate Wachinski looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Tonopah Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2-1. As for Saguaro, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Saguaro's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tonopah Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443.
