Baseball Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Wood Wildcats

For the second straight game, Rodriguez will face off against Wood. The Mustangs will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rodriguez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Rodriguez's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Wood with a sharp 11-0 win. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th.

Rodriguez got a great performance from Carson Thompson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Thompson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sean O'Connell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Beasley, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Wood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Rodriguez, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
