Recap: Sycamore War Eagles vs. Antioch Bears

The Sycamore War Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-55 to Antioch. While losing is never fun, Sycamore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Antioch is ranked 46th).

Antioch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ta'khyian Whitset out in front who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Whitset continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddux Bodenhamer, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and five rebounds.

Sycamore's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Antioch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Sycamore will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Antioch won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Goodpasture Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. One thing working in Goodpasture Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
