Volleyball Recap: Marquette Gets the Win

Marquette hadn't done well against Eureka recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Wildcats. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Marquette had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.

Teagan Pocius paced Marquette's offense, picking up 22 kills. Pocius got some help from Maggie Smith and her 27 assists. Pocius was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Marquette has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Eureka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9-1.

Coming up, Marquette will challenge Blue Valley Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Eureka has already played their next matchup (against Lindbergh), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
