Softball Recap: South Windsor Comes Up Short

South Windsor extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Edwin O. Smith Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 5-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Edwin O. Smith, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

For Edwin O. Smith's part, Olivia Lipps made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Lipps has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachael Morales, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Louise Champage was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

South Windsor has already played their next contest (against E.O. Smith/Tolland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Edwin O. Smith, they will be playing in front of their home fans against RHAM at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
