Volleyball Recap: Poquoson Islanders vs. York Falcons

Poquoson was the 3-0 winner over York when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Poquoson Islanders fell just short of the York Falcons by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Poquoson took York into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 17-25, 15-9.

Sophia Tschida had a dynamite game for York, getting ten digs, two aces, and a kill. Tschida has been hot recently, having also posted 19 or more assists the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiran McVey, who had five aces, four digs, four blocks, and a kill.

Poquoson now has a losing record at 9-10. As for York, their record is now 6-8.

Poquoson will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for York, they will venture away from home to challenge New Kent at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Kent is coming into the game with six straight victories at home, so York will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
