Basketball Recap: George West Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Mathis came into Friday's contest looking for another win against George West, but Tristen Blevins wouldn't allow it. The George West Longhorns strolled past the Mathis Pirates with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-37 thanks in part to Blevins, who almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine boards. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of George West's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Collins, who posted ten points and five assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

George West's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-10. As for Mathis, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11.

George West will be playing at home against Aransas Pass at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aransas Pass has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Mathis, they will head out to face off against Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
