Softball Game Preview: Halls Red Devils vs. Karns Beavers

The Halls Red Devils will square off against the Karns Beavers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Karns will be up against a hot Halls squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Halls' pitchers stepped up to hand Campbell County a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Emery Bales looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Baker, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Makaylie Hutchison was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Karns hadn't beaten Powell on the road since April 14, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. Karns walked away with a 13-10 victory over Powell.

Halls pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 3.4 in the others. As for Karns, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Halls took their win against Karns in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Will Halls repeat their success, or does Karns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
