Soccer Game Preview: North Canyon vs. Washington

The North Canyon Rattlers are taking a road trip to challenge the Washington Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Canyon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, North Canyon turned things around against Shadow Mountain on Thursday. Neither they nor the Matadors could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Rattlers' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Washington came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 5-3. The Rams better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Itzel De La Cruz Perez, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Washington pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those five games. North Canyon's draw gives them a new season record of 0-7-1.

North Canyon came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Canyon since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
