Baseball Game Preview: Floresville Tigers/Jaguars vs. Pleasanton Eagles

The Floresville Tigers/Jaguars will take on the Pleasanton Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Floresville 4.1, Pleasanton 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Floresville beat Carrizo Springs 6-1. The Tigers/Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Pleasanton waltzed into their match on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayden Arrendondo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Braysen Stevens was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Pleasanton pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Floresville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Floresville skirted past Pleasanton 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Floresville repeat their success, or does Pleasanton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
