Baseball Recap: Spearville Triumphs

Spearville never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Southwestern Heights Mustangs. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Aydin Ruiz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kaleb Konrade was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Spearville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Spearville's record is now 12-5. As for Southwestern Heights, they dropped their record down to 8-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
